Michael Beer

After finishing his PhD in Food science and Nutrition at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Zurich, Switzerland) in 1994, Michael Beer spent 8 years in public and private research. In 2002 he joined the Federal Office of Public Health (Bern, Switzerland) heading the Department of Food Science. In 2006 he was prompted to head the Division of Food Safety at the Federal Office of Public Health being responsible for both risk assessment and risk management activities in the food sector. Since 2014, he is Vice Director at the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (Bern, Switzerland) heading the Food and Nutrition Division.
